(WPR/WGTD)---Kenosha County Health Dept. staffers have been invited to visit Amazon's facilities along I-94 in Kenosha County to inspect the company's COVID-19 sanitation practices. This, after Health Dept. Dir. Jen Freiheit told reporters earlier in the week that Amazon officials weren't cooperating.

According to the Kenosha County Division of Health, 18 Amazon workers who are Kenosha County residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since March. But the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported at least 32 workers at the Kenosha campus have contracted the virus in the past two months. The discrepancy might be due to Amazon employees at the Kenosha facility living in Illinois.

Amazon says it has implemented numerous measures to protect its employee from the disease. In addition, the company says it'll be offering testing to employees here under a pilot program.

The company says it's paying employees who've had contact with someone with the disease to stay home.
