Mt. Pleasant Police confirmed Wednesday that the body of a female found in the village Monday afternoon is that of a missing Kenosha teenager.

17 year-old Olivia M. Mackay was last seen late Sunday night on security camera footage from Lou Perrine's Gas & Groceries at 52nd St. and Sheridan Rd., according to a Tuesday Facebook post  by her father. Police haven't commented on the report.

The body was discovered early Monday afternoon in a wooded and brush-filled area off of Louis Sorensen Rd. west of the Renaissance Business Park in Sturtevant. The discovery reportedly was made by a resident riding an ATV.

Police said in a news release Tuesday evening that the exact cause of death hasn't been determined, and that more tests will be performed.

In the updated release Wednesday morning, police still classified the death as "suspicious."

Mt. Pleasant Police said the victim's family first became aware of her disappearance when she failed to show up for work on Monday.

In a separate news release, Kenosha Police said they weren't made aware of the disappearance until Tuesday morning. By then, word had been received of the Mt. Pleasant death investigation.

Mackay, a student at Indian Trail, was described by police as having dual residences in both Kenosha and Bristol.

Mt. Pleasant Police Chief Tim Zarzecki  returned a message late Wednesday afternoon, but said he didn't have anything new to add to what's been already reported.
