Chain Reaction Multi-Vehicle Accident Shuts Down Northbound 94 Tuesday Morning

August 6, 2019  11:20am

The morning commute was more than a little aggravating for people on northbound I-94 through Racine County on Tuesday morning.

A series of 3 related accidents---involving 4-vehicles---on northbound I-94 near 7 Mile Road---just after 5 am---caused all lanes of the northbound freeway to be closed for 3 hours.

The Racine County Sheriff’s Department reports that a tire blew out on a Ford Escape causing the vehicle to spin out and hit the median wall.

A semi-truck---in the far left lane---slowed down as the Escape crashed in front of it.  That semi was then hit from behind by a dump truck---which began leaking hydraulic fluid. Then---a Chevy Cobalt (pictured) drove over the hydraulic fluid causing the driver to lose control of the car---and---it struck the median wall.

Surprisingly, no one was hurt in the series of accidents. Due to the hydraulic fluid leak---all I-94 northbound lanes had to be shut down til about 8 o’clock Tuesday morning.
