A 36 year-old Elm Grove man is facing charges in connection with a traffic accident that seriously injured the passenger in the car he'd been driving.
Nicholas Putz appeared in Racine Court Wednesday and was released on a signature bond.
The charges against Putz include intoxicated use of a vehicle and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.
According to the criminal complaint and a news release from the Mt. Pleasant Police Dept., Putz lost control in the 1400 blk. of Oakes Road and slammed into a tree. The accident happened a few days before Thanksgiving of last year.
While Putz walked away from the crash, his passenger, 34 year-old Mary Pagano of Mt. Pleasant, was trapped for a time in the wreckage and suffered serious injuries.
Putz' blood-alcohol level was said to be .09, just above the legal limit.
A gun was found in the center console of the vehicle.
