COVID Vaccination Heads-Up: Counties Establishing On-Line Forms

(WGTD)---Health Departments in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties have established websites that are designed to make sure that everyone who's in the "1a" category for receiving a dose of COVID vaccine is linked to a potential provider.

In addition, Kenosha County has begun to register individuals and groups that fall in the "1b" category, even though a timeline has yet to be established for when those people will be able to receive a shot. Kenosha County Health Officer Jen Freiheit said this week that in her county at least it all depends on how quickly the vaccine shipments arrive. Freiheit said vaccine is being administered as soon as it arrives and is not sitting around somewhere in storage.

According to figures compiled by the state, nearly 48-hundred people have received inoculations in Kenosha County as of Thursday. The number in Racine County is nearly 3,000 while over 500 people have received shots in Walworth County. Hospitals and now public health departments are offering vaccinations.

The 1a category includes health care personnel, firefighters, law enforcement and residents and staff of long-term care facilities.

The 1b category includes anyone 65 or older, frontline essential workers and teachers.

Online forms provided by all three counties are meant to catch those in the 1a category who fall through the cracks. Some home health care aides, for example, may not be able to rely on a large employer for arrangements.

Kenosha County's desire to register those in the 1b category is to gather contact information to allow the county to distribute information about the availability of the vaccine for them. Options exist for individuals to register as well as representatives of groups.
