(WGTD)---A fatality in Pleasant Prairie is under investigation.
Authorities received a call of an older person trapped on the second floor of a burning home in the 8300 blk. of Old Green Bay Rd. just before 4:30 Monday afternoon.
Three police officers ran inside, but the victim was already dead by the time they were able to reach the person. Two of the three officers were taken to the hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.
The Kenosha County Fire Investigation Task Force and Pleasant Prairie detectives are investigating.
A news release says the officers who entered the house arrived on scene within three minutes of the call. They reported smoke coming from the second floor.
The house is located just six blocks from the village’s police department.
