Huge Grant Awarded to Kenosha's Shalom Center

Kenosha---The Shalom Center picked up a major grant yesterday from The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. The $664,000 grant will be used to pay down the construction loan on Shalom's new homeless shelter on 39th Avenue. The grant will reduce the Shalom Center's building debt from $884,000 to $220,000. The grant money must be used for construction debt and cannot be used for the day-to-day operations of the center. The Kenosha community showed its support for the shelter project by raising $850,000 in donations to replace grant funds that were denied last year.
