(WGTD)---22-year-old Kenosha native Khaila Wilcoxon is appearing in the Tony Award-winning musical "Hadestown," which picked up a number of Tonys Sunday night. She is part of the 17-member cast of “Hadestown", a modern musical take on the Greek love story of Eurydice and Orpheus. Wilcoxon  performed with the cast during the CBS-TV telecast that reached about  6 million viewers. “Hadestown,” was the big winner of the night scoring a total of 8 Tony Awards, including “Best Musical.” The production debuted on Broadway earlier this year.

Wilcoxon steps on stage to provide background vocals and choreography in the Broadway production. She serves quadruple duty and is also a “swing”, (also known as an understudy) for two characters, Eurydice and Fates. If one of the main leads goes out sick, Wilcoxon would step in as she knows their lines and choreography on top of her own responsibilities, just in case.

Wilcoxon graduated from Indian Trail High School and UW-Stevens Point. She took part in several KUSD productions including “Tarzan” and “Dessa Rose.”

Wilcoxon made her Broadway debut in 2018 along side American Idol alum Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken in "Ruben and Clay's First Annual Christmas Show." In 2018, Wilcoxon performed on the hit ABC talk show "The View" hosted by Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, and Meghan McCain among others.

Wilcoxon’s parents are beaming. Tamarra Coleman, former Kenosha Unified School Board President and the current Executive Director of the Shalom Center in Kenosha, posted on Facebook as “Hadestown” racked up awards Sunday. Coleman shared “I’m in Awe.. #Speechless.”  Tamarra's posts generated over 400 likes on Facebook. Michael Coleman, a Kenosha Boys and Girls Club board member, has also shared his praise via social media.

Wilcoxon will be extremely busy for the foreseeable future. “Hadestown” is currently scheduled to run through January of 2020.
