Kenosha's Captain Jim Hawkins Retires from Navy and Great Lakes Naval Station

After nearly 30 years in the Navy---and---the last 3 as the Commanding Officer of the Great Lakes Naval Station---Kenosha native Captain Jim Hawkins is retiring today. He said he and his family will stay in this area as he decides what will be the "next chapter in my life." Captain Hawkins is a 1987 graduate of St. Joseph High School and a 1991 graduate of the University of Notre Dame where he earned a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a commission through Naval ROTC. Captain Hawkins was designated a Naval Flight Officer in February 1994. He’s not quite sure---yet---what his post-Navy career will be---so---he is leaving his options open. The new base commander will be Captain Raymond Leung
