Mount Pleasant has selected a 21-year veteran of its police department to be the new police chief. Captain Matt Soens was selected from a pool of candidates from across the country according to Jim Ivanoski---acting chairman of the village’s police and fire commission. Former chief Tim Zarzecki announced at the end of last year that he would retire to go to work in the private sector.
