Support is apparently building for an 18 year-old Milwaukee woman who allegedly shot and killed a 34 year-old Kenosha man who reportedly was under investigation for child trafficking and producing child porn. The judge in the case disclosed Thursday that he had received four voice mail messages from people making unspecified demands related to the case. Judge David Wilk said he could not characterize the messages as threatening or even of great concern. But Wilk said he felt he was obligated to disclose them to the attorneys in the case, who then were ushered into a side office to listen for themselves. The messages apparently advocated for the release of materials related to the investigation. Wilk is still in the process of determining just how much of the material should be released to the defense. Further discussion was scheduled for February 21st.

An anonymous donor has offered to match contributions up to a half-million dollars for a new and larger animal shelter in Mt. Pleasant. If full advantage is taken of the offer, the Wisconsin Humane Society will then have enough cash on hand to begin construction of the $6 milllion facility that's planned for the corner of 16th and 90th streets. Donations can be made online.  The offer expires in Oct.

A Racine drug dealer has been accused of shooting a confidential informant and carrying out a second shooting in which a witness to the first one was injured. Bond for 41 year-old Dedrick Flowers was set at three-quarters of a million dollars cash Thursday. According to the criminal complaint, Flowers sold crack cocaine on three occasions to a woman he later shot after accusing her of being a snitch. Then about two months later, Flowers allegedly shot a man who witnessed the first shooting. Both victims managed to survive, even though they'd been shot multiple times. Flowers appeared in court Thursday after having been sought by police for weeks.
