(WGTD)---Dislocated workers who are interested in changing gears and picking up new skills in high-demand fields such as construction, advanced manufacturing, information technology and health sciences are being offered a helping hand by SC Johnson.
The Racine-based company has donated over a half-million dollars to Gateway Technical College to fund a new program called HOPE---Highly Skilled Occupations for Professional Employment.
The program will finance certificate training for 156 students, and provide career counseling and placement services. Certificates usually take about a semester to complete for full-time students--longer if you're part-time.
A news release from Gateway says the program is designed as a rapid response solution to offset the impact that COVID-19 has had on the local workforce.
