Son Busts Dad For Abuse, Who Then Lands in Even Hotter Water; Key Foxconn Vote on Wednesday; Special Election Scheduled for Assembly Seat

The final document that's expected to put in motion Wisconsin's $3 billion incentive package for Foxconn is expected to gain approval Wednesday from the board that controls the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. But not everyone is happy about it. Democratic State Senator Tim Carpenter, a board member, issued a news release Tuesday evening saying that he hasn't had time to properly review the contract, and can't say for sure that taxpayer interests will be protected. The contract was distributed to board members on Monday.

A special election to replace Democratic State Rep. Cory Mason of Racine will be held Tuesday, January 16th, a day after Mason's resignation takes effect. Mason submitted his letter of resignation Tuesday, clearing the way for Gov. Walker to schedule the special election. The primary--if one is needed--will take place December 19th. Mason is leaving the Assembly to devote full attention to his new job as Racine mayor, a post he won in an election held a few weeks ago to replace John Dickert, who left to lead an environmental group. Mason was sworn in as mayor just a couple hours after he sent in his letter.

An alleged drug dealer in Union Grove was busted after his 10 year-old son reported him for child abuse. We're not naming the defendant in order to protect his family. According to the criminal complaint, the 10 year-old told school staffers last week that his 56 year-old father punched and poked him on a regular basis. The child's mother confirmed the boy's basic account. In a search of the family's home, authorities came away with over 14 pounds of pot, a half-dozen marijuana plants and a quantity of prescription drugs. The father was arrested and is facing a variety of charges, including child abuse and drug dealing. The man's wife said her husband regularly smoked marijuana in front of the couple's 16 year-old daughter, and was often times abusive to her during their 20 years of marriage.
