ID For Town Enforcement Officer Who Dies in Crash

Salem---The town ordinance enforcement officer who died Friday evening when he lost control of his squad car has been identified as 33 year-old Michael Ventura.

According to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol, Ventura was west bound on Highway 50 near County 'B' with his emergency lights activated. The squad car left the road and entered the north ditch. Ventura was ejected. 

He was flown to a Milwaukee hospital where he later died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the release.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m.

Ventura's family reportedly asked the state patrol to handle the investigation. 

Salem operates a small force of officers who have the power to enforce town ordinances and write traffic tickets.
