(WGTD)---A court battle against the Trump administration has led to funding being restored to the AmeriCorps program.
Gov. Evers office has announced that the state received $9.3 million to support 20 AmeriCorps programs, including one at the Racine Zoo.
Zoo Director Beth Heidorn said four AmeriCorps staffers who conducted programs for kids at the zoo and in their home schools were let go several weeks before the school year ended this year because of Trump administration cuts.
The restored funding means that the program will be able to resume on schedule early next year.
Heidorn tells WGTD she’s excited that the Zoo won’t have to reduce it’s level of programming for kids.
