Bank to Build at KIN

July 18, 2025 3:30p

(WGTD)---The first private development in the Kenosha Innovation Neighborhood has been announced.

A branch of State Bank of the Lakes will be built at the corner of 52nd St. and 28th Ave.

The new 28th Ave.—yet to open-- is one of the streets that crisscross the 107-acre site that used to be home to auto manufacturing in Kenosha.

Construction on the bank is expected to begin this year.

It’ll be the third building at the redevelopment site. The new LakeView Technology Academy opened last year. Just to the west, the Kenosha Innovation Center is expected to open this fall.

The center will become the headquarters for the non-profit that runs KIN. Director Kelly Armstrong tells WGTD building tenants will be unveiled at that time.

KIN’s goal is to become a vibrant center for innovation and education. It’s expected to feature a mix of startups, established companies, research institutions and civic amenities.
