Beam-Signing Ceremony For the New Lincoln-King Center

Oct. 23, 2025 8:40p

(WGTD)---Progress in the construction in Racine of the new Lincoln-King Community center going up next to Julian Thomas Elementary was noted this week.

Officials and workers who have a connection of some sort to the project signed one of the last iron beams to be put in place.

Mayor Mason was among those who spoke. He described the city’s community centers as one piece in the ongoing effort to build a stronger community. "We know in order for people to succeed they need access to good public schools. They need access to health care and they need access to quality of life services like what our Parks Department provides at community centers. We are making this dream and these commitments a reality.."

About 80% of the cost of the $68 million building is being covered by state and federal grants.

The building will include a federally subsidized health center, something that the city has sought for a long time.

The structure will replace a community center that’s located about a block north of the new building.
