(WGTD)---A community coalition that's trying to find an alternative to closing schools in Kenosha is holding a planning session Tuesday evening.
The Kenosha Education Justice Coalition plans to convene a meeting Tuesday evening at 6 at the Kenosha Union Club. The session will be available online via Zoom.
The meeting comes a week in advance of a Kenosha School Board meeting where board members are to vote on a school closing and consolidation plan that was laid out last week by district administration.
The plan calls for moving Washington Middle School to the building that currently houses the Edward Bain School of Language and Art, consolidating KTEC east and west at Lincoln Middle School, closing several elementary schools and adjusting school enrollment boundaries.
The district is facing a budget shortfall, and also notes that middle and elementary schools, in the aggregate, are running at less than two-thirds capacity.
