CUSH to Protest ICE Deal With the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office

Jan. 29, 2026 9p

(WGTD)---Kenosha County Sheriff Dave Zoerner says he has no regrets in approving a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office.

The deal means that several jailers will be deputized by ICE, leading to quicker deportation of inmates who've been convicted of crimes.

Congregations United to Serve Humanity is calling on Zoerner to pull out of the agreement, saying it permits the deportation of suspected illegal immigrants without due process.

CUSH has scheduled a news conference to be held in Civic Center Park Friday afternoon at 1. CUSH supporters will then go to Spirit Alive Church at 4600 60th St. to conduct a call-a-thon in an effort to contact members of congress urging them to defund ICE.

In an email to WGTD, Zoerner said he has no problem with CUSH supporters exercising their free speech rights, as long as the protest is peaceful.
