(WGTD)---The wheelman in Racine's 2022 Graceland Cemetery shooting was sentenced Tuesday.
22-year-old Lamarion Blair received a 10-year prison term from Judge Robert Repischak. The sentence would've been longer, Repischak indicated, had it not been for Blair's decision to testify against a co-defendant. Even though Luis Granados was said by the prosecutor to have had a more significant role in the crime, a jury several months ago delivered not guilty verdicts.
The 2022 incident involved a carload of suspected gang members driving by the cemetery as a graveside service was taking place for a man who was killed by police. The gang members opened fire, injuring two women.
"No one in their right mind would think when going to the cemetery they would have to wear a bullet-proof vest," Repischak said at Tuesday's sentencing.
Blair's attorney said her client had a "complex" childhood filled with scrapes with police and school officials, mental health issues and juvenile detentions.
Repischak wasn't impressed. "At this point in your life you can't be in society," he said.
