DIY Public Beach Clean-Up

(WGTD)---The City of Kenosha has gone a step further than simply asking Lake Michigan beach-goers to keep the areas free of litter. It's providing tools to do the job.

A clean-up station has been established at the popular Simmons Island beach that includes white plastic buckets that people can use to pick up trash as they stroll the shoreline. The buckets can be emptied in a trash receptacle that's included in the kiosk then returned to the station.

The volunteer effort will augment the work of Parks Dept. staff as they continue to patrol the beaches daily during the summer looking for debris.

In a news release, the city says it appreciates everyone's help in keeping the beaches clean.
