Feb. 5, 2026 3:15p

(WGTD)---The recently-passed federal government funding bill includes money for various projects in Kenosha, Racine and Walworth counties.

$5 million has been allocated to Racine County’s $38 million behavioral health building that’s nearing completion on Taylor Ave.

$3 million will beef up Kenosha’s program to incentivize the building of affordable single-family homes on vacant, city-owned lots. The program was jumpstarted several years ago by a $3 million donation from Uline.

United Way of Kenosha County will receive $278,000 for a childhood literacy program.

In Walworth County, $1 million in federal funds will be used to renovate a vacant, 30-bed skilling nursing home to function as a Community Based Residential Facility.

The allocations were reported in a news release this week from U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin’s office.
