(WGTD) ---An endowment fund established to commemorate the 2026 centennial anniversary of the Kenosha Community
Foundation is about a-quarter of the way toward its million dollar goal.
Foundation Director Amy Greil gave an update on the status of what’s called “The Kenosha Fund” on WGTD’s Morning Show last week.
Interest from the endowment will be used to finance unrestricted grants to Kenosha County non-profits.
Greil said she hopes to replicate the giving spirit of the industrialists who started the Kenosha Community Foundation 100 years ago. “There were visionaries there,” she said. “100 years ago people came together, primarily industrialists, that said hey we’re putting our community first. We’re putting our wealth right back to where we drew our wealth. And that is a movement we need to see now.”
If the Kenosha Fund reaches its goal of raising a million dollars by August of next year, then the Foundation will be able to double the dollar amount of unrestricted grants it hands out each year, increasing the amount to $120,000.
