Kenosha has a fire chief in-waiting. The Kenosha Police and Fire Commission announced Monday that it is promoting Kenosha Fire Department Deputy Chief Daniel Tilton to the position of chief, once the current chief, Christopher Bigley, retires in early April. Tilton has been with the department since 1996. His tenure was interrupted by three tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan as a member of the U.S. Army Reserves. Tilton retired three years ago from the Reserves at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

The Racine plan commission has recommended approval of plans to build a Woodman's Food Market at a soon-to-be rejuvenated and reconfigured Regency Mall. The vote came Monday night after just a few minutes of discussion. The store expects to open in either summer or fall of 2025. A Woodman's official said the store will be an updated version of the Woodman's in Kenosha at Highway 50 and I-94.
