(WGTD)---Microsoft--the company that's building a data center campus in Mt. Pleasant--is donating 750 laptops to the Racine County Human Services Department.
Some of the laptops will be given to participants in the county's Summer Youth Employment Program. A graduation ceremony and laptop distribution will take place Friday morning at 10 at Pritchard Park.
Most of the laptops will be distributed over time to several targeted groups: Older adults at risk of social isolation, individuals receiving economic or employment assistance and behavioral health clients in need of access to virtual telehealth. That's according to a news release from the county.
The idea, according to Human Services Director Hope Otto, is to use technology to improve people's lives in various ways, whether that's allowing individuals to connect with family, attend a telehealth appointment or apply for a job.
