New Kenosha Mayor Bogdala Makes First Appearance as Mayor on WGTD

June 13, 2024 5p

(WGTD)---Issues relating to housing have been taking up much of new Kenosha Mayor Dave Bogdala’s first two months in office.

Speaking on last Saturday’s Community Matters, Bogdala said for one thing he’s given the city’s inspectors a green light to get more aggressive in enforcing code violations.

Bogdala said he and staff have also been reviewing vacant properties in Kenosha with an eye toward promoting development, in particular construction of affordable housing.

Bogdala is putting the finishing touches on a pacakge of proposals that includes a plan for a recent $3 million donation from Uline. The grant--given with the stipulation that the city matches the amount from other sources--is designed to promote the construction of single-family affordable housing.

Bogdala hinted that the plan may include some federal dollars. During his first week in office, Bogdala met with U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin to see what kind of federal help might be available.
