(WGTD)---A newly-elected Salem Lakes village trustee was charged Monday with disorderly conduct, domestic abuse.
39-year-old Jared Young was released after signing a bond.
According to the criminal complaint, Young showed up Sunday night at a neighbor's bonfire at which his estranged wife was attending with the couple's two children. Young allegedly became confrontational and purportedly shoved the homeowner and grabbed the arms of the woman.
In a statement to WGTD, Young described himself as a concerned father who was worried about his children. He denied that any physical altercation occurred.
Young was part of a slate of challengers that defeated several incumbents in the spring election.
A pre-trial was scheduled for July 14th.
