New Term Begins for Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser

Kenosha County Executive Jim Kreuser took the oath of office for his third, four-year term Thursday.

The ceremonial swearing-in took place in a courtroom full of friends and family and other elected officials.

In a twenty minute-long speech, Kreuser thanked his co-workers, and recounted the progress the county has made in the last 10 years, especially in the area of economic development, attributing it in part to sound government. "We are now in the hottest place in the region and very possibly the nation," Kreuser said. "Together a lot of us made it look easy, but it's hard work. But when you use best practices and you want to achieve excellence in every department every day, trying to better yourself, it happens."

The event was emceed by former Kenosha County Executive John Collins, who had hired Kreuser right out of college in the early 80s. Kreuser went on to serve several terms in the Assembly before returning to Kenosha and becoming County Executive himself.

Kreuser was re-elected this spring without opposition. "I have the best job in the world as Kenosha County Executive," Kreuser said. "You work in the community and you're able to help the place where you were born and raised or where you've lived for many years. You're making it better...for the long haul."
