A small plane crashed in a cornfield near the East Troy airport Sunday afternoon. The pilot and three passengers survived the crash. According to a news release from the East Troy police and fire departments, one person was treated and released at the scene while three others were taken in for check-ups. WISN TV reported that the plane had taken off 20 minutes earlier from the airport and appeared to be circling back when it crashed. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

Caledonia police are investigating what appears to have been a shoot-out between two groups that occurred early Sunday morning on an I-94 frontage road. The driver of a Honda Accord initially claimed he was injured in a hit and run. But police officers quickly determined that the 28 year-old Greenfield man was suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his back. A closer inspection of his vehicle uncovered multiple bullet holes, and there were numerous shell casings in the road. Investigators later traced the shoot-out to an altercation that occurred earlier in the evening at a location outside of the village.

It's not exactly a 'Party on the Pavement' redo, but the Downtown Racine Corporation wants to help vendors and merchants who lost money when the popular downtown festival was rained out two weekends ago. The 'First Friday' promotion--coming up this Friday the 2nd--will be an expanded event that'll include vendors and food trucks lining a two-block stretch of 5th Ave. between Wisconsin and Lake. The night will have an 'Octoberfest' theme, with live German music and a ceremonial keg tapping on Monument Square at five with free beer while it lasts.

Kenosha firefighters have donated $15,000 from their annual golf outing to the Mahone Foundation, the non-profit that funds scholarships and a college and career readiness program for first-generation and low-to-moderate income high school students. The firefighters created their community charity in 2007 after a firefighter was injured on the job. According to a news release, the firefighters have a history of supporting the Mahone Foundation.
