(WGTD)---A Kenosha County man who was sentenced last fall in connection with a black-market, THC vape manufacturing and sales business is due back in court Wednesday.

23-year-old Tyler Huffhines is expected to be formally charged with a misdemeanor count of obstructing.

Earlier this spring, Huffhines allegedly lied to deputies who were investigating just how a SUV wound up in a creek off of State Highway 45.

According to the criminal complaint, Huffhines said his grandfather—the owner of the vehicle—had been driving it.  Huffhines’ story unraveled after deputies learned that the grandfather was out of town and on vacation. Huffhines then admitted to being the driver and fleeing the scene, saying he lied because he didn’t want to violate the terms of his probation in the drug case.

The complaint notes a couple of things that are bound to raise additional suspicion. A witness who came across the crash recalled seeing a male exiting the SUV with a large black bag then being driven off in a sedan. In addition, deputies who searched the SUV came across an empty box that apparently at one point may have contained a synthetic urine, a substance commonly used to falsify a drug test.
