Racine City Council; Racine County Board Races

Jan. 7, 2026 7:30p; 1-8 correction in the Nielsen/Harmon race to reflect that Nielsen is the incumbent

(WGTD)---There's strong interest in the Racine City Council.

There's a contested race in each of the seven districts that are up for grabs this spring. The filing deadline was this week.

In the second, incumbent Tyler Townsend is on the ballot with three challengers: Renisha Murillo, Alyson Weiss and Rosalind Thomas. A primary will be needed for that race.

Incumbent David Maack will face off against Michael Schrader.

Sandy Weidner has drawn a challenge from Nathan Ortiz.

Incumbent Cinthia Esqueda will run against Brittany Russo.

Incumbent Samuel Peete will face Thomas Howard.

Henry Perez will run against Rocco De Mark.

And Marlo Harmon will go up against Andrew Fischer.

Things are much quieter at the Racine County Board.

Monte Osterman and Robert Erd are going after the seat being vacated by Tom Rutkowski.

A rematch has been set between incumbent Brett Nielsen and Marlo Harmon, who lost her county board seat to Nielsen by ten votes two years ago.

Tom Weatherston is the only candidate to have filed to replace Gary Kolb who declined to seek re-election.
