(WGTD)---The Racine Urban Garden Network was profiled recently on the Saturday morning program Community Matters.
For a $30 donation, anyone can plant a garden in one of 300 plots spread across nine sites. Membership includes access to a water source, tools, seeds, educational programming and perhaps most importantly, according to organization president Donna Delmar, camaraderie. "Community gardens are not just places for growing vegetables. They're places of community. People get to know each other. They get to share tips. A lot of our gardens have benches where people can come and sit and enjoy nature," she said.
During COVID, RUGN noticed a spike in applications.
