(WGTD)---A special prosecutor has been appointed in an alleged case of domestic violence that involves Kenosha County District Attorney Xavier Solis.
Kenosha County deputies responded to a 'trouble unknown' call at a Bristol residence which is believed to be Solis' home just before 7 p.m. on July 19th, according to a spokesman for the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office. The Walworth County Sheriff's Office was then contacted to take over the investigation due to a conflict of interest.
Walworth deputies took into custody a 27 year-old woman who's described as a former girlfriend of the 47 year-old Solis and the mother of at least one of his children. At least one arrest is mandated in most domestic violence situations.
The woman has not been charged.
WGTD has requested a copy of the investigative report from the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and any pertinent body camera footage from the responding deputies. Also requested was information related to the booking and arrest.
According to court documents, Solis himself had requested the appointment of a special prosecutor. Kenosha County Judge Chad Kerkman signed off on the request the following day. Walworth County District Attorney Zeke Wiedenfeld or his designee is expected to fill the role.
Solis is in the second year of a four-year term as district attorney. His tenure has been marked by an inability to hire and retain a full staff of assistant district attorneys after a raft of experienced prosecutors left shortly after he took office. The number of assistant district attorneys has hovered around a dozen, a little more than half of the office's authorized strength.
As of this posting, Solis has not responded to a request for comment.
