Jonathan Shailor's guest is Ayesu Lartey is the Assistant Professor in Music Theory and Contemporary Commercial Music at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. His areas of expertise include Music Theory and Ear Training; Music Composition, Orchestration, and Arranging; Piano, Guitar, Bass, Drums, African Percussion; Classical and Contemporary Voice Performance; Playwriting, Lyric Writing, and Musical Theater Composition. He wrote and composed “Lulu and the Long Walk,” which won “Best New Musical for Young Audiences”. He was nominated for “Best Music Director” for the same production. Ayesu composed and wrote lyrics for “What’s Left” commissioned by New York Film Academy. He was a Jonathan Larson Grant Finalist in 2021. Ayesu is a UW-Parkside alumni and earned his MFA in Musical Theater Writing at NYU TISCH School of the Arts.
