We preview the world premiere Thursday evening, October 8th, of "Cirrus: the Sky Dancer" by Australian composer Jodie Blackshaw. We speak with Ms. Blackshaw about her tremendous success as a composer of band music - to Laura Rexroth, director of bands at the University of Wisconsin-Parkiside - and Mary Ellen Close, a member of the flute section of UW-Parkside's community band, who is underwriting this commission- and specifically requested that the work be composed for flute choir and wind orchestra.
