We speak with Carlo Rotella, an English Professor at Boston College, about his new book "What Can I Get Out of This? Teaching and Learning in a Classroom Full of Skeptics." Through the course of the book, Professor Rotella talks about what transpires during the spring of 2020 as he teaches a section of a required freshman English course affectionately known as "Core Lit" - and what he views as the value of a course like this in an era when higher education is facing increasing pressures to shift towards Job Training as its fundamental purpose. Professor Rotella argues that this shift misses what in fact is the most important purpose of a college education.
