A preview of a PBS documentary titled "The Harvest" (for the series American Experience) which tells the story of Leland, Mississippi and its move to desegregated public schools in 1970. Pulitizer Prize winning writer Douglas Blackmon (writer and producer of the film) grew up in Leland and was a first grader in the fall of 1970 .... part of the first group of youngsters to experience desegregated public school education.
