From 2003- Best-selling author William Langewiesche talks about "American Ground: Unbuilding the World Trade Center." This book actually began as a sprawling three-part series for Atlantic Monthly. It tells the story of the extraordinary efforts necessary to remove the gigantic mass of debris that was left in the wake of the collapse of the Twin Towers. Langewiesche was granted nearly limitless access to Ground Zero during the time that this massive and complex operation was undertaken.
