On Saturday morning December 2, 2023, at 11:15, the 30-time award winning WGTD Radio Theater, now in its 18th season, will broadcast live the Annual Holiday Extravaganza featuring Jim McClure as “Dean Martin.” Joining Jim, as Dean, will be actors from the 91.1 Players.
This is episode number 132 in this long running radio theater series and will be broadcast live before a studio audience in The Great Room at Lake Lawn Resort in Delavan, Wisconsin. The WGTD Radio Theater is written and produced by Dr. Steven Brown of Salem Lakes, Wisconsin, who also is President of The Brown-Ullstrup Performing Arts Foundation. Rene Bushelle is the director for this production.
According to writer and producer Steve Brown, “We’ve been doing Christmas shows at Lake Lawn for a number of years now. Everyone likes a big show during the holidays, so that’s what we give them! Bill’s Little Big Band out of Antioch, Illinois, will be providing live music. Also, our audience will hear a few familiar holiday songs by local singer John Ludy Puleo.
We’ll be presenting Stan Freberg’s ‘Christmas Dragnet,’ which is a parody of Jack Webb’s ‘Dragnet’ series. We will also feature a funny holiday episode of ‘Fibber McGee and Molly.’ Also, Natalie La Voie will do a very special holiday reading of ‘Mrs. Santa Claus’, written by Carolyn S. Bailey.”
In addition to being aired over WGTD-FM, at 91.1 in Kenosha and Racine, 101.7 FM in Elkhorn, and 103.3 in Lake Geneva, the program will also be streamed live, on-line, at WGTD.org, and on either an iPhone or Android “app” at WGTD FM. WGTD FM is a service of Gateway Technical College, serving Kenosha, Racine, and Walworth Counties.
