2nd Shooting of a Teen in Racine Within a Week; Chase Ends in Pleasant Prairie with Spike Strips

A 16-year-old boy is in critical but stable condition after being shot several times while walking with a child on a Racine street early Sunday evening. Security camera video that was obtained by the Racine Journal Times shows two gunmen pulling up in a vehicle, jumping out and shooting at the teenager. With the victim already on the ground, several shots were fired by one gunman at point-blank range. The child runs off, appearing to be uninjured. As the gunmen re-enter the vehicle and drive off,  a person enters the frame to render aid. The shooting happened on the city's north side on Albert near Marquette.

A $1,000 reward is being offered in a fatal shooting in Racine that occurred almost exactly a week earlier. 14-year-old Eugene 'J.R.' Henderson was a passenger in a stolen vehicle that was hit by shots fired from another vehicle. The reward for information on the shooting is being offered by Crime Stoppers. The number is 262-636-9330. Meanwhile, a GoFundMe account designated to cover funeral expenses for the boy has risen to nearly $11,000.

Pleasant Prairie Police used spike strips to end a long chase early Monday afternoon through neighborhoods in the village and city. Initially police tried to pull over a vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Chicago on Green Bay Rd. and 79th St. The driver fled east on 75th, then south on 22nd then west in the village on Springbrook. The driver--a 20-year-old Illinois woman--lost control after the vehicle ran over some tire deflation devices. Uninjured, the woman was arrested and now faces several charges.

The driver of a Jeep died Sunday evening after he failed to negotiate a curve on West Frontage Rd. in Bristol and slammed into a barricade. The vehicle caught fire. A passerby pulled the man out, but he died later at the hospital. The man wasn't immediately identified, pending notification of family.
