3 Deaths Reported in Walworth County Storm

(WGTD)---Three children died when the boat they were in capsized on Geneva Lake in what was described as a sudden and fast-moving storm that struck early Friday afternoon. 

According to Geneva Lake Police, the three children, a 4th child and six adults were on a recreational motorboat when it overturned. First responders rescued the six who survived. Life-saving attempts were made at the scene and on the way to the hospital for the three children who didn't make it.  

All four children were wearing life jackets, according to police. 

No names were released.

Other dramatic rescues occurred in the county, according to the sheriff's office.

A structure fire and a barn collapse in the Town of Darien necessitated the rescue of an 83 year-old man whose condition is not known.

In the Town of Sharon, two men were trapped for a time when a silo collapsed.

And a truck driver wasn't injured when high winds overturned his rig on Highway 12 near Maclean Rd.

At 10 p.m., over 10,000 Alliant Energy customers in Walworth County were without power.

The sheriff's office said it had reports of hundreds of downed power lines, tree and branches.

Geneva Lake Police and the DNR are continuing to investigate the lake deaths.
