Educators Expands its Outreach to High School Students

Oct. 15, 2026 8:30p

(WGTD)---The recent opening of an Educators Credit Union branch inside of Burlington High School is the latest development in a long history by Educators of working with students who have an interest in pursuing a career in financial services.

The Burlington branch is Educators' seventh in-school location. The others are located at Case, Park and Horlick high schools in Racine; Bradford in Kenosha; Hamilton in Milwaukee and South Milwaukee. The branches are open during lunch periods and are typically staffed by two students and a full-time Educators' employee.

Emily Romeril is Educators' Education and Outreach specialist. She says the student employees not only gain experience by staffing the branches but they're also pulled together once a month for a seminar. "We do that because we want to not only foster those technical teller skills and customer service but we help them develop skills in areas like marketing and promotions," she said. "And they get to network with the other people of their age as well as community leaders."

The in-school branches also serve as a hub to help all students within the school develop financial literacy skills.

Students are eligible to open a student account with as little as $5 and an ID.
