(WGTD/AP)---A small plane that took off from the Kenosha Regional Airport Tuesday evening crashed in Sauk County, killing five adults and one child, according to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office. There were no survivors.
The names of the victims have not been released.
According to the sheriff's office, the plane was on a return trip from Kenosha to Menominee in northwest Wisconsin when it crashed in a densely wooded area west of Wisconsin Dells.
The National Transportation Safety Board said that the plane was flying at 24,000 feet when the pilot reported icing and requested to descend. Air traffic control approved the descent, and the plane began a right descending turn that increased in rate until communications and data tracking were lost, the NTSB said.
Investigators were trying to determine if thunderstorms that were in the area at the time of the crash played a role.
