Alleged Shooter Still on the Run; Possible Motive Revealed in Complaint

July 23, 2026 9p

(WGTD)---According information contained in a criminal complaint, the shooting death of 18 year-old Geovonnie Aime in Mt. Pleasant last month was over a THC vape.

Police allege that 17 year-old Ronald Franklin pulled a gun on Aime when Aime drove up to a house on Racine Street to apparently make a sale. Gunfire erupted instead.

Franklin reportedly told two acquaintances that he didn't mean to shoot Aime but did so after Aime tried to grab his gun.

Aime drove several blocks after being shot in the armpit area. Police found him slumped behind the wheel after crashing into a parked vehicle.

Police listened to a recorded phone conversation of the two acquaintances telling Franklin he should give himself up. Franklin purportedly declined, saying he planned to leave for Chicago.

Police said this week they believe Franklin is still in southeast Wisconsin.
