Ballot Set; Small Fire in Virginia Towers; Foxconn Site Governance

Racine---Just two Democrats will be on the ballot for Cory Mason's Assembly seat. Greta Neubauer--a staffer in Mason's office--and Ald. John Tate II-- were the only candidates to have filed the necessary paperwork by Tuesday evening's deadline. They'll compete against each other in the Dec. 19th Democratic primary. Barring anything unusual, the winner will then pass through the Jan. 16th general election and take the seat unchallenged. Mason is leaving in order to devote his full attention to serve as mayor. He succeeds John Dickert, who left this past summer to lead an environmental group.

Kensha---Three apartments were damaged Tuesday morning in a downtown high-rise fire. A 4th floor blaze in Virginia Towers reportedly began in or around a microwave oven, almost instantly triggering the sprinklers, according to the Kenosha Fire Dept. Water flooded that unit as well as the apartment directly beneath. Both of those units were left uninhabitable, and while an adjacent 4th floor apartment sustained minor damage. No one was injured. Mt. Pleasant---A draft of the development agreement between Mt. Pleasant, Racine County and Foxconn calls for a four-member commission made up of county and village representative to oversee development on the 1,200 acre site. That's what was revealed at last night's village board meeting as the sides get close to striking a deal. A contract at the state level has already been approved.
