(WGTD)---The operator of the successful beer garden in Petrifying Springs Park in Somers has been awarded a contract to establish and operate a similar venture in Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie.
The decision this week from the village board was unanimous.
Michael Grab and his partners will enclose an existing open-air pavilion in the southwest corner of the park overlooking Lake Andrea, and will be open for business during the warm weather months. In collaboration with Grab, the village will build a separate, nearby structure for restrooms and storage.
Grab told the board that the format of the Prairie Springs facility will be different than the authentic German biergarten he operates at Petrifying Springs. "The intent here would be to use local craft breweries...make this one a little bit more trendy...obviously you have the view of Lake Andrea," Grab said. "
In his application, Grab said he expects the Prairie Springs beer garden to gross between $350,000 and $450,000 annually. Part of the profits will support operations at the village-owned Rec Plex.
