(WGTD)---A man who’d been in an altercation at a Kenosha tavern over the weekend allegedly accidentally shot his girlfriend---on her birthday.
31-year-old Damon Blakey of Zion was charged Monday with 1st Degree Reckless Injury in connection with the shooting of Cierra Davis. She was shot in the left hip and upper right shoulder and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Blakey is also charged with Attempted 1st Degree Homicide for the shooting of his alleged target, Dayshaun Price, and Endangering Safety, for allegedly firing the shots that injured the sister of Price’s girlfriend. She was treated for a wound to her upper chest then released from the hospital, while Price suffered three, non-life- threatening bullet wounds.
According to the criminal complaint, an argument between Price and his brother began inside the Las Margaritas Tavern on Roosevelt Rd. near 23rd Ave. just before closing early Saturday morning. It spilled outside.
Blakey—the defendant—reportedly tried to intervene on the brother’s behalf. And that led to a spray of gunfire.
In a conversation with investigators, Blakey reportedly started sobbing when told that his girlfriend was among those hit.
Davis was in the bar with the defendant celebrating her birthday.
Blakey is being held on a half-million dollar bond.
Also, the co-owner of a barbershop on Lathrop Ave. in Racine has been charged with Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide in connection with a stabbing that may have involved a pair of scissors.
The incident occurred last Thursday.
34-year-old Steven Friebolin is expected to make his initial appearance Tuesday.
Piecing together versions that were included in the criminal complaint, Friebolen apparently had a beef with the person who was stabbed and a confrontation occurred outside of a nearby Subway.
A witness who observed the incident from a vehicle said a man investigators believed to be Friebolen’s brother handed Friebolen what may have been a scissors.
The injured man was stabbed five times and suffered a collapsed lung.
At least two videos of the incident have emerged.
