From WGTD News:

Kenosha firefighters discovered human remains in the debris of last week's Model Market fire. A positive identification has yet to be made, but a tenant of a second floor apartment in the century-old neighborhood grocery store has been missing ever since the Jan. 5th fire. He was last seen in the building. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Six more Kenosha Unified schools are being switched to virtual learning because of COVID. Curtis Strange, Grewenow and Jeffery Elementary schools were added to the list Tuesday, along with Lance and Lincoln middle schools and Reuther Central High School. In-person instruction is expected to resume at those schools Jan. 21. A total of 29 school buildings are now closes, leaving just 9 open. According to the district, all extra-curricular events at those schools have been canceled as well.

Poor timing and back luck didn't help the men who were shot in a mass shooting last April at Somers House Tavern. New details of the crime emerged Tuesday during the first day of the murder trial of 25-year-old Rakayo Vinson. Vinson is accused of killing three men and wounding three others in the packed bar. Prosecutor Michael Graveley indicated that Vinson walked into the place seemingly looking for a fight. Two of the men who were wounded--both Lake Geneva residents--were at the bar for the first time and had traveled there on the advice of a friend. One man who was shot after having engaged Vinson in a gun battle died after the vehicle he was loaded into for the trip to the hospital ran out of gas. The other two men who were killed appeared to have been on the verge of hopping into a friend's vehicle for a quick getaway. But for reasons that aren't entirely clear, the men re-entered the bar and were shot moments later. Vinson is claiming self-defense. The trial is expected to last the week.
