(WGTD)---A five-year-old Racine boy died when he was struck by a vehicle on North Memorial Drive Tuesday night.
According to a police department news release, a female child ran into the road in the 1000 blk. just after eight p.m. for unstated reasons. Traffic from both directions stopped, and motorists urged her to get out of the road. She did—but then the five-year-old boy ran out. Vehicles on one side of the street remained stationary, but traffic on the other side resumed, and that’s when the boy was struck. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the boy was the first to call 9-1-1 and is being fully cooperative.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the police department’s traffic investigations unit, or leave a tip anonymously on the Crime Stoppers line at 262-636-9330.
