(WGTD)---The Kenosha Police Dept. is recommending that the liquor licenses of a popular tavern either be revoked or suspended.
Problems at the Coins Sports Bar on 52nd St. are expected to be discussed by the city's License and Permit Committee at its regularly scheduled meeting Monday night.
A seven-page complaint filed with the committee by Police Chief Eric Larsen details 10 incidents that have occurred over the past six months.
Most of them involve unruly patrons in Coins parking lots that failed to disperse at closing time.
The last incident occurred during the early-morning hours of New Year's Day when gunfire broke out and one man was killed. The complaint says 33 officers from the Kenosha department and five outside agencies responded.
In an incident that occurred on July 4th of last year, an officer who'd been called to the bar to quell a parking lot disturbance was injured when he was struck by a car.
The complaint says that members of the department's tavern squad met with the bar's manager and security team on July 17th and recommended operational changes to head off future problems. But the very next day, officers were back at the bar at closing to deal with another disorderly crowd. The complaint says all available squads were called to the tavern that night to try to restore order.
Any recommendations made by the committee will be considered by the full city council.
